My personal testimony
I began my childhood in a non-Christian home. Neither of my parents wanted anything to do with the church because in their opinion it was hypocritical, judgmental and condescending. However, since a local Bible church provided free bus transportation to Sunday school, my two brothers and I were shipped off so we would be out of my parents hair on Sunday mornings.
As a youngster I remember hearing a preacher speak plainly and
simply what God's word had to say concerning heaven, hell, Jesus Christ and my
future.
I realized I needed the peace of God in my life and I accepted His free
gift of salvation, made possible by the death of his only begotten son, Jesus
Christ. Not too long after that my brothers and I managed to drag mom and dad to church. Both eventually accepted Christ.
After they became Christians, their lives dramatically changed for the good. I thank God for the peace that comes in knowing my family is now part of the family of God!
Since I was quite young when I made my decision to accept
Christ, I didn't really understand the true significance of my decision until
I was in high school and began to be confronted with the tough decisions of choosing
between right and wrong. It was my sophomore year in high school that I realized I must be obedient to God and it was then that I fully committed my life to Him.
It was only then that I began to experience first hand that God's promises are true and relevant on a daily basis. I began to discover His plan for my life and experience the inner peace that only God can offer.
They continue to give me peace and strength daily. I am now 73 years of
age. As I continue to follow and trust
Him daily I have learned to love him more and more.
His love for me and His timeless promises give me such great comfort and peace that I cannot imagine how those without Him are able to cope with life's many problems, disappointments and tragedies. Three of my favorite verses are:
Hebrews Chapter
where God promises:
I will never
leave thee or forsake thee.
Proverbs chapter
3 verses 5 & 6 where He promises,
Trust in the
Lord with all your heart and lean not upon your own understanding. In all your
ways acknowledge him and He shall direct your paths.
Philippians 4:13
where I am assured:
I can do all
things through Him who strengthens me.
Below I'd like to share with you God's message of love and hope
for you.
I pray that if you do not know God and his son Jesus Christ in a
personal way that these excerpts from the Bible will help you as they have me.
